 RiskScape’s ESI lifecycle begins with legal hold and scoping, where custodians are identified and the scope along with all relevant data sources is clearly defined to ensure a focused and defensible approach. 

The next phase, identification and mapping, involves locating data across a variety of environments, including cloud systems, local servers, workstations and laptops, mobile devices, and SaaS platforms, ensuring no critical information is overlooked. 

Forensic collection is then conducted using metadata-preserving tools and industry-standard methodologies to maintain the integrity and authenticity of the data. 

This is complemented by secure remote acquisition or controlled on-site imaging during the remote and on-site acquisition phase, providing flexibility and security depending on the environment. 

Once collected, all data is preserved under defensible retention policies and governed according to seven to ten-year standards, supporting long-term compliance and review. 

During review and filtering, the dataset is refined through deduplication, keyword and date filtering, and organized into attorney-ready review sets to streamline analysis. 

Processing and production convert the data into standard legal formats such as TIFF and PDF, complete with Bates numbering and load files, making it ready for review or presentation. 

The lifecycle concludes with comprehensive reporting and expert support, including chain-of-custody documentation, methodology defense, and expert testimony when required, ensuring that all ESI is defensible, accurate, and actionable throughout the entire process.
